Privacy Policy

Data we collect

• Identity data: name, username, title, and details you give during onboarding (veterinary status, university, year of study).
• Contact data: email address, and any address or phone number you provide.
• Financial data: payment card details are handled only by our payment providers (Stripe / SureCart); we do not store your card number.
• Usage data: your questions answered, notes, flags, and progress.
• Technical data: login times, IP address, browser type and version, and operating system.
• Analytics data: aggregated, anonymous information about page views and how the app performs (such as load speed and Core Web Vitals), collected through Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. This does not build a personal profile of you and does not track you across other websites.
• Marketing data: your marketing preferences.

We do not collect special-category (sensitive) data such as race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, political opinions, or health information.

How we use your data and our legal basis

• To provide the service and your account (legal basis: performance of a contract).
• To take payment and manage your subscription (contract).
• To keep the service secure and prevent fraud, including the sign-in code and single-device checks (legitimate interests).
• To send you service messages such as security and account notices (legitimate interests / contract).
• To send marketing emails, only where you have opted in (consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
• To monitor and improve the performance, reliability, and usability of the service, using aggregated analytics (legitimate interests).

Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the providers that run the service on our behalf, for example our hosting, database, payment, and email providers, under contracts that require them to protect it. We may disclose data where required by law.

To understand usage and measure performance we use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, provided by Vercel Inc. These collect aggregated, anonymous data, set no cookies, store nothing on your device, and do not identify you personally or track you across other websites.

Where an institution purchases access for its students, designated administrators may see progress and completion data (not passwords or sensitive information).

Data retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to meet the purposes above, then delete or anonymise it. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise many of these from your profile, or by emailing us.

To make a request, email info@vettutor.co.uk. We respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
